I didn't actually watch this show from when it started airing, but after hearing many people say that it's actually quite nice, despite some flaws, I decided to try it. Honestly, not impressed with it, but it still has it's positive points.

There were some inconsistencies in the anime. First one was some facts that were mentioned in the anime. One example is the whole thing about when 2 people who posses imperial arms, surely one of them have to die, there is no draw. Realistically speaking, this doesn't actually hold, but considering that they mentioned it, we would usually just take their word for it. But down the anime, it kind of seemed to me like it's more of a rule than a fact.
They also didn't actually emphasis the fights between imperial arms users. Unlike animes, like Kuroko no Basuke and One Piece, where by they actually really use this point to actually make the viewers more impressed by the battle, this anime doesn't actually bring out the intensity of the fight between the imperial arms users. I thought that one thing that they could do was make use of fights between an imperial arm user and a normal warrior, or make use of surrounding mob characters to actually tell us exactly how impressive it is by visibly expressing their feelings.
Another inconsistency is their clothes, which will be written under the art ratings section.

I think that there is a need to improve their character affection. I think that one of the huge mistakes that they actually made was the character introduction. Usually when a new comers joins the group, they would usually introduce the character together with either their fighting styles or their unique point. But there was no such thing in this anime, so until now I'm not actually sure about all the member's interests or unique point. So that actually makes it harder for the viewers to determine which characters they like the best and grow an affection for.
It seems like even though the characters were killed, I somehow don't actually feel anything, even though for one of them it seems like they put in a lot of effort to make it sad (took up a lot of screen time), but unfortunately, it didn't actually work.
I think that for this, they didn't make use of the other characters to bring out that sadness from within. It could just be animation or pictures without words, but if they actually showed how each of them felt about their comrade's death when their alone in their room, is something I think would have actually worked up more emotions.

Even though with all those slightly over-killing scenes, it may seem like a dark anime (which I think it was what they were aiming for), but overall, it gave me the feeling that it is actually quite a cheerful anime. Unfortunately, that amount of cheerfulness actually affected the overall story, of course it's not as bad as Kill la Kill (which seriously just didn't work for me, and I thought it's kind of a failure.), where at least in this anime, the fighting scenes can be taken seriously to a certain extend. However, I still feel that sticking to the seriousness and the dark setting of the whole anime would have made everything stick together more smoothly and would have been better.

The element of surprise didn't work in this anime, especially about the thing about Akame's younger sister, because of 2 main factors; firstly, because they showed us her face, and secondly, they told us her name. If either one of it was a secret, it may have worked if they actually played it the right way, but too bad they gave both of it up. So when they actually told us that she was Akame's sister, it just didn't really had any impact. They should have made it more like the thing with Touka's brother in Tokyo Ghoul, but than like telling us little by little about Akame's sister from the beginning.

Slightly unrealistic amount of power during fights in which the main character is involved. First he was able to defeat those strong people, but than afterwards, it was like he was reverted back to being that same weak person he was, even though he was said to have evolve his imperial arm.

Ok, so for the good points for this anime;

I can see the use of certain ancient beliefs (?) in the anime. Usually anime which, to a certain extend, is build from beliefs will have a solid background to support the whole show. I'm not really sure if it's a belief from the ancient time or not (I can't be sure), but seeing as they were using names like "murasame" and "yatsufusa" for their sword names, which I recognize from the anime Hakkenden, I'm sure that there is some history behind all this.

I thought that they actually use enough effects in the fighting scenes to make it look more flashy and interesting. But of course not as good as SAO (their seriously really good at making their action scene the best.)

Ok art. Thought that the character designs all matches their personality and powers. But to a certain extend maybe a little to boring.

As for the clothes, judging from the setting, it should be more towards the olden type of clothes, maybe with some upgrade to them. However, there seem to be some clothes that really seem super out and just doesn't really match the setting, which really bugged me.
